"No, no, I tried. But, you know, they give these favors to friends..."
The O.C.
"- Hi. - Hey."
The O.C.
"You are not gonna believe this. So it turns out that I am totally smart."
The O.C.
"Not in my own way. In your way too."
The O.C.
"...that turns out to be academically gifted but didn't apply herself."
The O.C.
"...I could get my grades up enough to go to Brown with you."
The O.C.
"Wouldn't that be awesome?"
The O.C.
"Well, now I do. Dr. Kim said that you can make your own major."
The O.C.
"And the school colors are seal brown. How cute are seals?"
The O.C.
"Look, they're having this thing tomorrow for prospective students."
The O.C.
"And I thought we could go together."
The O.C.
"What are you reading?"
The O.C.
"Well, now that I'm smart, I'm sure I'll enjoy it."
The O.C.
"- I'll follow up with the numbers. - What about Thai for dinner?"
The O.C.
"We've been working on it for about 25 years."
The O.C.
"What about you? There's a girlfriend in Chicago."
The O.C.
"- Seth, Ryan, meet Matt Ramsey. - Hey."
The O.C.
"- Matt, meet my boys. - Hey there."
The O.C.
"Oh, that's my cue to help Mom with dinner."
The O.C.
"It's an early version, but pretty much."
The O.C.
"You guys probably don't want my two cents, but..."
The O.C.
"What? No, no, no, go ahead."
The O.C.
"You put a wall up here, it turns this space into a courtyard."
The O.C.
"Add some benches, a playground."
The O.C.
"- Good idea. - It was just a thought."
The O.C.
"- You're a senior? Applying to college? - Yeah."
The O.C.
"What would look better than an internship with a prestigious development company?"
The O.C.
"Cancel them."
The O.C.
"My mom's done a bunch of charities for them..."
The O.C.
"...and Summer's dad even works there, so this is kind of perfect."
The O.C.
"Why? Because I might one day decide to become a surfer..."
The O.C.
"Yeah, I don't think that's gonna happen."
The O.C.
"I just don't want you to think this is your problem."
The O.C.
"Sorry."
The O.C.
"Oh, hang on."
The O.C.
"- Hey. - Hi."
The O.C.
"- You have to help me. - Well, I thought Marissa was helping you."
The O.C.
"She is. She's driving me, feeding me, bringing me my homework."
The O.C.
"She's too nice, spending too much time with me."
The O.C.
"Well, she tends to be a little clingy."
The O.C.
"- No, it's not that I don't like it. - We'll get together later."
The O.C.
"- A lot. - I called this, like, so long ago."
The O.C.
"This... This is a major problem."
The O.C.
"Just don't tell anyone."
The O.C.
"- All right, bye. - Promise?"
The O.C.
"- Yeah. - Hey."
The O.C.
"What'd I miss?"
The O.C.
"Thanks for dropping me, Sum."
The O.C.
"Hey, you think maybe you could pick me up too?"
The O.C.
"Oh, maybe you should ask Ryan."
The O.C.
"Because I'm gonna drop off his homework and hopefully I'll know about the doctor."
The O.C.
"The sooner Johnny gets on his feet, you don't have to be his nursemaid."
The O.C.
"I kind of like being his nursemaid. You know, maybe I should be a nurse."
The O.C.
"- Do you have a problem with it? - Why would I...? I cancelled."
The O.C.
"- Who would my problem be with? - I think it's great that Summer's a genius."
The O.C.
"Listen, Dr. Kim said she had some untapped potential."
The O.C.
"- Compete with Summer. - Why? Because..."
The O.C.
"So I figured out what our start-up costs will be."
The O.C.
"Oh, I'm sorry."
The O.C.
"Julie, if this business works, you'll never have to boil your dinner again."
The O.C.
"I had a supplier list."
The O.C.
"Right here."
The O.C.
"So I see you're suddenly without a lunch date."
The O.C.
"- Wanna join me at the bar for a drink? - No, my friend will be back shortly."
The O.C.
"We're partners."
The O.C.
"Really?"
The O.C.
"Well..."
The O.C.
"- Hey, Julie. - Kirsten."
The O.C.
"Oh, this is Jeff Granzow. This is my business partner, Kirsten Cohen."
The O.C.
"Actually, I invited Jeff to join us for lunch."
The O.C.
"He just hired us to do a dinner party at his house this weekend."
The O.C.
"For $5000."
The O.C.
"Do you like crab cakes?"
The O.C.
"Hey, Ashley, Madison."
The O.C.
"- Summer, hey. - Didn't expect to see you here..."
The O.C.
"You know, maybe we should just leave."
The O.C.
"You don't think I belong here."
The O.C.
"Oh, this isn't about you."
The O.C.
"Well, maybe I never had a dream."
The O.C.
"Like something important."
The O.C.
"Be the first woman in space..."
The O.C.
"...or win one of those noble prizes."
The O.C.
"Women have been going to space since the '60s."
The O.C.
"Marie Curie won in 1903 for discovering radium."
The O.C.
"- I think you've made your point. - Hey, don't leave."
The O.C.
"Oh, I'm not leaving."
The O.C.
"Look, you may know more about history and science and stuff..."
The O.C.
"...but I know a thing or two about working a room."
The O.C.
"Hey, Madison. Wait up."
The O.C.
"You all right?"
The O.C.
"Yeah."
The O.C.
"I just got a lot on my mind. I promised it wouldn't interfere with my work."
The O.C.
"This job means a lot to you, huh?"
The O.C.
"Kind of means everything."
The O.C.
"I relocated to do this with Sandy."
The O.C.
"And my girlfriend..."
The O.C.
"Well, my ex now, I guess."
The O.C.
"...as my wife."
The O.C.
"- Have you told Sandy this? - It's not his problem."
The O.C.
"- I don't wanna let him down. - Tell me about it."
The O.C.
"Whatever it is, put it right out of your mind. It's already done."
The O.C.
"There's legislation in the works that would change the zoning."
The O.C.
"That means twice the work."
The O.C.
"- Maybe you could reschedule the meeting? - I would if I could."
The O.C.
"These guys are coming tomorrow, and then heading down to San Diego..."
The O.C.
"Fourteen hours, laptop, coffee. Ryan and I are good to go."
The O.C.
"That's the spirit. Thanks."
The O.C.
"We gonna have time to get ready? If not, we should tell him."
The O.C.
"I wanna thank you for coming. Great group."
The O.C.
"- So true. - But, unfortunately..."
The O.C.
"...on average, Brown admits one student a year from Harbor."
The O.C.
"And it's stiff competition. I wish I could admit you all."
The O.C.
"But enjoy the event. And good luck."
The O.C.
"- Hey, can I talk to you? - I need to talk to the Brown guy."
The O.C.
"What it really takes is a hook."
The O.C.
"Okay, okay. And could you clarify with an example?"
The O.C.
"Next week?"
The O.C.
"That is great news. I can't believe it."
The O.C.
"Summer's dad is a surgeon at the hospital, and they knew each other."
The O.C.
"I'm glad it worked out, though."
The O.C.
