Clips from The O.C. - The Journey (S03E03)
"It's what the man does. My mom, my stepmonster."
The O.C.
"He proposed to both of them on cruises. This is awful."
The O.C.
"You're overreacting. They just started dating."
The O.C.
"My dad only dated my mom a week. He met my stepmonster on the cruise..."
The O.C.
"- The man's got a disease. - Well, after dating Julie Cooper..."
The O.C.
"I do respect a man who knows how to use power tools."
The O.C.
"Actually, before I forget..."
The O.C.
"- What this? - So tomorrow's kind of my birthday..."
The O.C.
"Wow, I can hardly process so much enthusiasm."
The O.C.
"I mean, I'd like to. Especially after you did such a great job selling it."
The O.C.
"But a friend of mine's gonna be in L.A. tomorrow..."
The O.C.
"It's no big deal."
The O.C.
"- Marissa? - Yeah, I've been..."
The O.C.
"- And if you don't... - Exactly."
The O.C.
"And that's his way of forcing the issue."
The O.C.
"...but couldn't seem to make it work. We also couldn't seem to break up."
The O.C.
"- So it just went on and on. - So how'd it finally end?"
The O.C.
"We should probably get to work."
The O.C.
"Yeah, come in."
The O.C.
"- Hey, Sum. What's up? - Hi. We need to talk."
The O.C.
"- Okay. - What are you doing?"
The O.C.
"Remember when Ryan first came, spent the night in the model home?"
The O.C.
"- The house that he burned down? - Accidentally, yes."
The O.C.
"He said he wished he had another copy."
The O.C.
"Coop, you're tapping into core relationship mythology."
The O.C.
"...will just be read as, "Hey, let's get back together.""
The O.C.
"And if I don't give him anything, it'll be:"
The O.C.
"Well, maybe that's what you both need right now. You know?"
The O.C.
"- A clear sign one way or the other. - Yeah, I just..."
The O.C.
"Well..."
The O.C.
"Seth is throwing Ryan a birthday party tomorrow night..."
The O.C.
"- Does Ryan know you're inviting me? - Not exactly."
The O.C.
"I know. This sucks."
The O.C.
"Can't you just call her?"
The O.C.
"Neil, hi, it's me."
The O.C.
"I thought we were meeting."
The O.C.
"I guess not. Well, call me when you get this, okay?"
The O.C.
"- Summer, hi. - Julie."
The O.C.
"What a surprise."
The O.C.
"Kind of... It's absurd, actually."
The O.C.
"- I know. - Excuse me?"
The O.C.
"I know about you and my dad. Your private hanky-panky..."
The O.C.
"...your driving-range smooching. I know."
The O.C.
"- Summer, we were gonna tell you. - Before or after you went on the cruise?"
The O.C.
""A lovers' cruise to Cabo"?"
The O.C.
"And it leaves tomorrow night. What...?"
The O.C.
"I guess Neil wanted to surprise me."
The O.C.
"Well, he was gonna surprise you, all right."
The O.C.
"Did you know that he proposed to his past two wives on cruises?"
The O.C.
"...but my dad just got out of a marriage..."
The O.C.
"We are nowhere near close to getting engaged. Trust me."
The O.C.
"- You serious? - Yes, of course."
The O.C.
"- Does Marissa know about this? - Not yet."
The O.C.
"Well, I guess I'd better tell her then."
The O.C.
"- Third one down. - Thank you."
The O.C.
"Hello, Dawn."
The O.C.
"Sandy. What are you doing here?"
The O.C.
"Well, tomorrow is Ryan's 18th birthday."
The O.C.
"I'm here to invite you to the party."
The O.C.
"- Does Ryan know I'm in here? - No."
The O.C.
"So, what happened?"
The O.C.
"The old story."
The O.C.
"I hooked up with this guy, and lots of drinking..."
The O.C.
"...and the money ran out. And then he did."
The O.C.
"And then you started writing bad checks."
The O.C.
"Oh, Dawn, you could have called us."
The O.C.
"Yeah, I'm sorry."
The O.C.
"He's good."
The O.C.
"So, what's up?"
The O.C.
"Well, Detective Warner stopped by the office."
The O.C.
"He's done with his investigation into Johnny's death."
The O.C.
"Sorry. This is a client. I have to take this."
The O.C.
"- Okay. - Hi, this is Matt."
The O.C.
"- What do you want? - Nothing."
The O.C.
"- Let go of me. - Relax. Harper dying and all..."
The O.C.
"- You need to walk away. - Or what?"
The O.C.
"Is there a problem?"
The O.C.
"- Come on, man, are you seriously...? - I said shut it!"
The O.C.
"- You, I wanna see some ID. - Come on."
The O.C.
"...like you wanna go out vote up a storm?"
The O.C.
"Fighting the urge."
The O.C.
"Yep. Sandy called from Albuquerque."
The O.C.
"Says he's gonna make it back, finish his business before the party."
The O.C.
"Marissa has not called, and I'm not expecting her to."
The O.C.
"At least it won't be awkward with Sadie there."
The O.C.
"- Yeah, she can't come. - Did you tell her Marissa's not going?"
The O.C.
"She probably wanted to give you space."
The O.C.
"She said she wasn't coming before I mentioned I might invite Marissa."
The O.C.
"Tell her where you stand now, see if that changes her answer."
The O.C.
"And you might want to mention..."
The O.C.
"...though I don't wanna overhype..."
The O.C.
"You know, the short stack really is the perfect amount."
The O.C.
"Look, Mom, this is great and everything..."
The O.C.
"Okay. I'm sorry. I'll stop stalling."
The O.C.
"...I've been seeing Neil Roberts. - Dr. Roberts?"
The O.C.
"Wait, what have you had done?"
The O.C.
"Oh, my God, you've been dating Summer's dad?"
The O.C.
"I was going to tell you. We thought we'd wait until..."
The O.C.
"...we knew if it was, you know, serious."
The O.C.
"- And? Is it? - He's taking me on a cruise to Cabo."
The O.C.
"In fact, we leave tonight. So yes, it feels serious."
The O.C.
"...but, yeah, I guess."
The O.C.
"Oh, honey, thank you for being supportive."
The O.C.
"Yeah, just, Summer's, like, my best friend."
The O.C.
"So don't do anything."
The O.C.
"Okay. Whatever that means."
The O.C.
"That's Spanish. I bought these tapes to impress Neil."
The O.C.
"- That's great, Mom. I'm happy for you. - Okay. Go. Fling. Bye."
The O.C.
"Sandy, I still don't understand how you did this."
The O.C.
"I made some calls. The charges are dropped."
The O.C.
"In exchange, you will enroll in a substance-abuse program..."
The O.C.
"...and make restitution to the people you defrauded."
The O.C.
"- Well, I don't have the money for that. - I took care of it."
The O.C.
"All you have to do is go to your son's birthday party. The plane leaves at 5."
The O.C.
"Sandy..."
The O.C.
"...I don't know."
The O.C.
"Sure you do. You're his mother. And he is gonna want to see you."
The O.C.
"Come on."
The O.C.
"Okay, I gotta take a shower, I gotta change my clothes."
The O.C.
"All right, well, my hotel is nearby."
The O.C.
