"to save all sentient life in the universe?"
Star Trek: Discovery
"GABRIELLE: That is true."
Star Trek: Discovery
"BURNHAM: And isn't it true that the only reason we are"
Star Trek: Discovery
"all sitting here today"
Star Trek: Discovery
"is because the Federation gave me"
Star Trek: Discovery
"and the crew of the USS Discovery"
Star Trek: Discovery
"the resources and the mandate to solve"
Star Trek: Discovery
"the biggest, most troublesome problems in the galaxy?"
Star Trek: Discovery
"Yes."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Didn't you see all of us,"
Star Trek: Discovery
"imperfect and flawed as we all are,"
Star Trek: Discovery
"still live up to its best ideals?"
Star Trek: Discovery
"Yes. I did."
Star Trek: Discovery
"BURNHAM: So I may question"
Star Trek: Discovery
"and I may fear,"
Star Trek: Discovery
"because the problems often seem insurmountable."
Star Trek: Discovery
"But haven't we always risen to meet them?"
Star Trek: Discovery
"Yes."
Star Trek: Discovery
"So why don't you believe me when I say"
Star Trek: Discovery
"that it is the greater good I am fighting for,"
Star Trek: Discovery
"that I have always been fighting for?"
Star Trek: Discovery
"Then why are you struggling withwhether or not you belong here?"
Star Trek: Discovery
"[whispers]: I don't know."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Maybe because the stakes are so much higher now."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Everything is different."
Star Trek: Discovery
"And every day, there's this fear..."
Star Trek: Discovery
"this fear that I'm-I'm doing it wrong."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Like I'll..."
Star Trek: Discovery
"destroy the people I love."
Star Trek: Discovery
"I mean, what if I lose everything and everyone?"
Star Trek: Discovery
"After all we've sacrificed."
Star Trek: Discovery
"I know."
Star Trek: Discovery
"[laughs softly]"
Star Trek: Discovery
"Now she speaks truthfully."
Star Trek: Discovery
"I thank you for your candor."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Daughter."
Star Trek: Discovery
"V'KIR: While I appreciate your sentiments,"
Star Trek: Discovery
"her candor will not prevent another Burn."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Our society only wants stability and peace."
Star Trek: Discovery
"SHIRA: Peer V'Kir,"
Star Trek: Discovery
"we are to determine if we're going to share"
Star Trek: Discovery
"the SB-19 data based on scientific evidence."
Star Trek: Discovery
"We are not here to decide what our society wants."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Vulcans will choose whatever serves them best"
Star Trek: Discovery
"and insist it is only logical."
Star Trek: Discovery
"If the Vulcans won't share the data, then the Romulans will."
Star Trek: Discovery
"[clamoring]"
Star Trek: Discovery
"SHIRA: My brothers."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Peer N'Raj, this is not the way."
Star Trek: Discovery
"N'RAJ: What way do you know?"
Star Trek: Discovery
"You sit in the middle, trying to be everything and nothing."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Friends."
Star Trek: Discovery
"[clamoring stops]"
Star Trek: Discovery
"This is not what my brother would have wanted."
Star Trek: Discovery
"He revealed the connection between your cultures."
Star Trek: Discovery
"I implore you-- don't lose that."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Clearly more tenuous than we had realized."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Perhaps it is already lost."
Star Trek: Discovery
"BURNHAM: No."
Star Trek: Discovery
"No, it is not."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Spock believed that, together,"
Star Trek: Discovery
"you could create something bigger than yourselves."
Star Trek: Discovery
"That's what this Quorum is."
Star Trek: Discovery
"That's what Ni'Var is."
Star Trek: Discovery
"[exhales]"
Star Trek: Discovery
"That's what the Federation is."
Star Trek: Discovery
"You represent the Federation,"
Star Trek: Discovery
"yet you invoke Ambassador Spock,"
Star Trek: Discovery
"who left it behind."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Doesn't mean he didn't love it."
Star Trek: Discovery
"And it doesn't mean he wouldn't have returned someday."
Star Trek: Discovery
"V'KIR: How and if he understood love"
Star Trek: Discovery
"is something we can never know."
Star Trek: Discovery
"I think I might know."
Star Trek: Discovery
"The Burn nearly destroyed the Federation."
Star Trek: Discovery
"I will not add the peace of Ni'Var"
Star Trek: Discovery
"to its list of casualties."
Star Trek: Discovery
"I withdraw my request."
Star Trek: Discovery
"[clang reverberates]"
Star Trek: Discovery
"What about the data you need?"
Star Trek: Discovery
"I'll keep searching."
Star Trek: Discovery
"And I'll send whatever I findto the Ni'Var Science Institute."
Star Trek: Discovery
"You can do with it what you want."
Star Trek: Discovery
"I ask you for nothing."
Star Trek: Discovery
"But I am giving you my trust."
Star Trek: Discovery
"As a member of Starfleet."
Star Trek: Discovery
"♪"
Star Trek: Discovery
"[door chimes]"
Star Trek: Discovery
"[sighs]"
Star Trek: Discovery
"Come in."
Star Trek: Discovery
"I got where you were going back there,"
Star Trek: Discovery
"but you could have picked a better time"
Star Trek: Discovery
"to do some parenting."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Is this what you were like as a 12-year-old?"
Star Trek: Discovery
"You know, the first thing you told me,"
Star Trek: Discovery
"the first thing after all this time..."
Star Trek: Discovery
"...was that you didn't know"
Star Trek: Discovery
"how you fit in with your family anymore."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Michael, you don't need to choose"
Star Trek: Discovery
"between the person you used to be and the person you are now."
Star Trek: Discovery
"You shouldn't."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Duty and joy go hand in hand."
Star Trek: Discovery
"Duty is there"
Star Trek: Discovery
"so you can continue to pursue your happiness."
Star Trek: Discovery
"And joy is there"
Star Trek: Discovery
"so that you have something real to fight for."
Star Trek: Discovery
"So, what now?"
Star Trek: Discovery
"I told you there was another audience."
Star Trek: Discovery
"When President T'Rina saw you,"
Star Trek: Discovery
"when you let her see you..."
Star Trek: Discovery
"[chuckles softly]"
Star Trek: Discovery
"...she decided that trusting you"
Star Trek: Discovery
"was worth the risk."
Star Trek: Discovery
"And she also said"
Star Trek: Discovery
"she wonderedhow much of the man Spock became"
Star Trek: Discovery
"was the result of who his sister was."
Star Trek: Discovery
"[laughs softly]"
Star Trek: Discovery
"♪"
Star Trek: Discovery
"[whispers]: You're staying on Ni'Var, aren't you?"
Star Trek: Discovery
"I can't be bound to you."
