Clips from Downton Abbey - Episode #4.5 (S04E04)
"You name it, I've said it."
Downton Abbey
"She'll be eating out of your hand. That's the intention."
Downton Abbey
"No enemies downstairs neither."
Downton Abbey
"That was Miss O'Brien's mistake."
Downton Abbey
"They don't like you much. That's why you're here."
Downton Abbey
"To rectify that failing on my part."
Downton Abbey
"Mrs Hughes said so. It seemed easier when I was looking after Her Ladyship as well as you."
Downton Abbey
"Why not go back to the cottage?"
Downton Abbey
"I'm not, My Lady. Honestly."
Downton Abbey
"Just keep calm. You know enough to do well if you keep calm."
Downton Abbey
"Very good luck, Alfred. Is there anything I ought to know about London?"
Downton Abbey
"This afternoon, when Her Ladyship comes down,"
Downton Abbey
"What's happened to your apron?"
Downton Abbey
"Why? What should -"
Downton Abbey
"My other's in the wash. And Her Ladyship's due!"
Downton Abbey
"I thought you wouldn't mind if Alfred rode in the front, My Lady."
Downton Abbey
"He's catching the same train. Of course I don't mind."
Downton Abbey
"It's his first trip to London. How exciting."
Downton Abbey
"Exciting's one word for it."
Downton Abbey
"You want to reverse the foreclosure and take the lease,"
Downton Abbey
"but you still can't pay all the arrears."
Downton Abbey
"We've worked this land in partnership with the Crawleys"
Downton Abbey
"for more than a century."
Downton Abbey
"I don't mean to be impertinent. I do not hear it as impertinence."
Downton Abbey
"We're in partnership with all our tenants. Or, we should be."
Downton Abbey
"Then, will you let me come home?"
Downton Abbey
"Thank you, My Lord."
Downton Abbey
"I'll be at the farm."
Downton Abbey
"Mr Drewe."
Downton Abbey
"I would prefer to report that you are prepared to repay the arrears in full."
Downton Abbey
"I don't think I will."
Downton Abbey
"Do you think Alfred has a chance with his cooking?"
Downton Abbey
"Because I've got an idea that might kill two birds with one stone."
Downton Abbey
"We'll be short of a footman any day and Mr Molesley will be short of a job."
Downton Abbey
"What say we deal with the two problems together?"
Downton Abbey
"And solve both. Exactly."
Downton Abbey
"- But would he do it? - Would he do it (?)"
Downton Abbey
"and lucky to get even that? I'll say he'll do it."
Downton Abbey
"You might've talked it over with us before you made up your mind."
Downton Abbey
"But I haven't. I told him we'd think about it. That's all."
Downton Abbey
"Where did you read that? I made it up."
Downton Abbey
"One thing we don't want is a poet in the family (!)"
Downton Abbey
"The only poet peer I am familiar with is Lord Byron."
Downton Abbey
"And I presume you all know how that ended."
Downton Abbey
"So, you'd let Mr Drewe stay on. Since he wants to repay the debt, I think it only fair."
Downton Abbey
"Besides, he talks of the partnership between the farmers and the family, and I like that."
Downton Abbey
"Well, I think it's splendid. Says the queen of the rebels (!)"
Downton Abbey
"No right legally, no. But we think he has a moral right."
Downton Abbey
"It's a pity it should be Yew Tree. It would've filled a hole in the land we farm."
Downton Abbey
"You've managed without it till now. You haven't said what you think."
Downton Abbey
"I've not abandoned all my socialism. Even though it feels like it sometimes."
Downton Abbey
"In this one and only instance, I am glad to hear it."
Downton Abbey
"When will you tell him? There's no tearing rush."
Downton Abbey
"We've a day or two to talk it over. And then you can tell him."
Downton Abbey
"Because I love you."
Downton Abbey
"I want to find out why you don't love me any more."
Downton Abbey
"Well..."
Downton Abbey
"Ooh! I can't get over the speed of it."
Downton Abbey
"I feel quite dizzy watching."
Downton Abbey
"Show? It's better than it was before I bought it."
Downton Abbey
"Aw! Thanks very much."
Downton Abbey
"Her Ladyship's on her way down."
Downton Abbey
"I'm grateful for this job, Thomas."
Downton Abbey
"And we both know why. But what's it all about?"
Downton Abbey
"I'm sure."
Downton Abbey
"So I want to know about any plans upstairs."
Downton Abbey
"No, she's not an enemy. But she's incorruptible."
Downton Abbey
"She's also silent. Shouldn't think I've had four words out of her since I arrived."
Downton Abbey
"I've come down to persuade you. I just don't see why it's better than an ice box."
Downton Abbey
"Well, a refrigerator is more efficient."
Downton Abbey
"It keeps food fresh longer."
Downton Abbey
"But the papers will still be delivered, and the groceries, and all sorts."
Downton Abbey
"Mrs Patmore."
Downton Abbey
"(I wouldn't mind getting rid of my corset.)"
Downton Abbey
"You must do everything Maley tells you."
Downton Abbey
"I am, ma'am. Because there's always work for a good gardener."
Downton Abbey
"She would not relax her grip."
Downton Abbey
"You make me sound very fervent."
Downton Abbey
"Wars have been waged with less fervour (!)"
Downton Abbey
"This is it."
Downton Abbey
"Today...you are going to make four dishes."
Downton Abbey
"the chef, Monsieur Diat, altered a soup made popular by Monsieur Gouffe and..."
Downton Abbey
"the great Monsieur Escoffier."
Downton Abbey
"What did he do?"
Downton Abbey
"He served it cold. Very good. Yes, it was eaten cold."
Downton Abbey
"Previously, the name had been a simple one."
Downton Abbey
"Leek and potato soup. But..."
Downton Abbey
"what was it called now?"
Downton Abbey
"So...you all have the instructions before you."
Downton Abbey
"Mr Napier."
Downton Abbey
"Hello, Mary."
Downton Abbey
"I'm working on a government thing and we've got some research to do in Yorkshire."
Downton Abbey
"Lucky me. I was in Thirsk, and I suddenly thought, why not take a chance?"
Downton Abbey
"Well, I'm so glad you did."
Downton Abbey
"I'll get them to tell Mama and Papa that you're here."
Downton Abbey
"While I've got you alone..."
Downton Abbey
"You've been in my thoughts a great deal..."
Downton Abbey
"since the whole...ghastly business."
Downton Abbey
"It's not right, you know, when you speak against Alfred."
Downton Abbey
"Sorry. But imagine having never been to London."
Downton Abbey
"Don't be so soft."
Downton Abbey
"So...what is this thing you're working on?"
Downton Abbey
"Well, don't tell us if it's meant to be a secret."
Downton Abbey
"A lot of landed estates are in difficulty."
Downton Abbey
"Some of them. It sounds rather interesting."
Downton Abbey
"But we have earmarked the ones in serious trouble."
Downton Abbey
"Still, we'd love your opinion on whether or not we're doing the right things. Wouldn't we, Papa?"
Downton Abbey
"We don't want to add to his labours."
Downton Abbey
"Where are you staying while you're up here?"
Downton Abbey
"We haven't decided. There's quite a good hotel in Ripon."
Downton Abbey
"Why not?"
Downton Abbey
"Well, to start with, I'll have my boss with me. Who's that?"
Downton Abbey
"Charles Blake. Have you ever come across him?"
Downton Abbey
"I don't think so. You must both stay here."
Downton Abbey
"What could be better than that?"
Downton Abbey
"I know I can do better, sir, if you give me a chance. I know it."
Downton Abbey
"You have worked instead as a footman for the Earl of Grantham."
Downton Abbey
"I have, yes. And this has made you...unhappy?"
Downton Abbey
"I'll not say that."
Downton Abbey
"But I want to do more with my life."
